William P. “Bill” “Pappaw” Harris
Graveside services for William P. “Bill” “Pappaw” Harris, age 87, of
Rusk are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, August 16, 2007 in Salem
Cemetery with Rev. Don Copeland officiating under the direction of
Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.
Mr. Harris died August 13, 2007 in a Rusk nursing home.
Mr. Harris was born April 3, 1920 in Rochester, TX to the late Charlie
and Pliney Wood Harris. He lived in Cherokee County for 68 years. He
served in World War II in the United States Army Infantry. He was self-
employed most of his life as a welder. He also enjoyed hunting and
fishing. He was a Baptist.
Proceeded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia Allen Harris.
He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and A.C. Teer of
Rusk, Judy and Rex Harrell of Lovelady, TX, sons and daughters-in-law,
James and Becky Harris of Chandler, TX, Alfred and Linda Harris of Rusk,
granddaughters, Shelia and Karen Teer of Rusk, Teresa Spain of Bullard,
TX, Kandice Harris of Rusk, grandsons, Michael Harris of Tampa, Florida,
Brent Harrell of Colorado Springs, Colorado, four great granddaughters,
and one great grandson, special friend, Pearl Johnson. Family will
receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at the
funeral home.
