Clara Lucille Greene
Services for Clara Lucille Greene, 92, of Rusk, will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday,
Jan. 2, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Rusk, with the Rev. Lee Welch and
the Rev. Jim Goforth officiating, under the direction of Wallace-Thompson
Funeral Home of Rusk.
Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m., at Driver Cemetery.
Mrs. Greene died Dec. 29, 2006, at a Jacksonville hospital. She was born Nov. 2,
1914, in Donie to the late Thomas Oliver and Emily Parazade Howell Curtis. She
was a resident of Rusk for 31 years. She was formerly of Teague for 20 years and
Houston for 41 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rusk where she
taught the Lydia Sunday school class for many years. She was actively involved
in the Women’s Missionary Union. She was a charter member of the Cloverleaf
Baptist Church in Houston. Mrs. Greene and her late husband, Karl, owned and
operated Greene’s Hardware and Variety Story in Houston for 26 years. After
retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Greene built and sold wood furniture.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Karl Greene Jan. 22, 2006; two sisters,
Betty Stovall and Fayrene Curtis; three brothers; Cecil Curtis, Bruce Curtis and
Robert Curtis.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and JoEd Anderson of Rusk;
son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Mary Greene of Rusk; two sisters, Nellie
Walthall of Houston and Mazine Cunningham of Houston; brother, Jerry Curtis of
Temple; grandson, Danny Anderson of Rusk and wife Kimberly of Lawrence, Kan.;
grandson, Craig Anderson and wife Kim of Phoenix, Ariz.; granddaughter, Karla
Thrash and husband, Bobby of Rusk; grandson, Chad Greene and wife, Tammy of
Rusk; great-granddaughters, Lauren and Greta Anderson of Phoenix, Ariz.;
great-grandson and great-granddaughter, Charles Guard and Julia Guard of
Lawrence, Kan.; great-granddaughter, Erin Thrash of Rusk; great-grandson, Trey
Thrash of Rusk, great-granddaughter Kelsey Greene of Rusk; and great-grandson
Colton Greene of Rusk.
Pallbearers include Danny Anderson, Craig Anderson, Chad Greene, Bobby Thrash,
Kenny Curtis and Norman Curtis.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Lydia Sunday school class.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at the funeral home.
