Garland Watts Fletcher
Funeral services for Garland Watts Fletcher, 74, of Rusk are
scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007 in Wallace-Thompson
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Copeland officiating. Interment will
be in Salem Cemetery under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral
Home in Rusk.
Mr. Fletcher died Aug. 4, 2007 in a Lufkin Hospice Facility. He was born
Feb. 6, 1933 to the late Wiltz Watts and Ruth Goodwin Fletcher.
He was a resident of Rusk for seven years and formerly lived in
Montgomery County. He grew up in Hamlin. He was a member of Honea
Baptist Church in Montgomery, Texas.
He was a member of Pipefitters Local 211 in Pasadena, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lila Fletcher, who passed away on
Aug. 4, 2004; mother-in-law, Mildred Williams, who died on Nov. 8, 2006;
and son Jason Fletcher, October 14, 1988. He is survived by a son and
daughter-in-law, David Scott and Rebecca Fletcher of Rusk; three bothers
and sister-in-law, Lane and Beth Fletcher of Hamlin, Robert Fletcher of
Hamlin, Mark Fletcher of Nebraska; sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and
Bo Newland of Hamlin; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and
cousins.
Pallbearers will include Shawn Powers, Chris Gibson, James Boykin, Keith
Clements, Tom Gann, and James Thompson Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be
Frank Taylor, James Armstrong, Chip Harris, Bo Newland, Milburn Newland,
Lane Fletcher, Robert Fletcher, Mark Fletcher, Jimmy Boykin, and Michael
Boykin.
Family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007 at the
funeral home. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. Todd, Dr.
Fuentes, and the fifth floor Nurses at Lufkin Memorial Hospital. Also
special thanks to Hospice in the Pines for their special care of our
loved one.
