The celebration of the life of Mary Lucille Dover, 88, of
Jacksonville, will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Autry
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Jamerson presiding. Burial will
follow in Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Autry Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dover died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Trinity Mother Frances
Hospital in Tyler after a short illness. She was born May 6, 1919, in
Atoy, Texas, to Gordie and James Wilbur (Whitt) Lanier .
She married Leldon L. Dover on December 21, 1938 and he preceded her in
death on February 1, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents
and her sister; Ruby Sutton.
Mrs. Dover lived in Jacksonville for the last 58 years, having lived in
Alto, Texas previously. She worked at Discount City for many years in
the Ladies, apparel department. She was a member of the Sunset Baptist
Church.
Mrs. Dover was known as “MamMa” to her 5 children, 11 grandchildren and
19 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed people, and they in turn enjoyed
meeting this lively lady with the twinkling eyes and laughing
personality. She loved games especially a game of canasta, and she was
always ready to play dominoes with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Dover is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Wilbur and
Sue Dover of Grapevine, Texas; Gary and Sonja Dover of Salado, Texas;
and Wayne and Molly Dover of Bryan; two daughters and sons-in-law,
Glenda and Charles Humphreys and Becky and Kent Westbrook of
Jacksonville; eleven grandchildren; Scott Hausler, Dr. Brent Dover,
Melanie Whatley, Dr. Rance Humphreys, Tana Switsky, Lisa Guitterez,
Stephen Dover, Kari Jamerson, Brad Westbrook, Mandy Walker and Christy
Dover; nineteen great-grandchildren, Shale and Shanna Hausler; Harrison,
Brianne, Shelby and Kaylee Dover; Olivia Whatley, Ethan and Ewan Switsky;
Garratt and Cameron Guiterrez; Maria and David Garza; Colby and Chase
Jamerson, Breckin Westbrook; Trey Walker and McKenzie and Madison
Scanlan; two brothers and sister-in-law; Royce and Ann Lanier and
Clinton and Elaine Lanier, both of Tyler, her sister; Ruby Sutton who
preceded her in death. Also surviving brothers-in-law and wives; Feldon
and Merle Dover, A.C. and Dorothy Dover, J.C. and Nellie Dover and Larry
and May Dover of Alto, sister-in-law; Dovie Whitaker of Cushing, along
with many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons; Scott Hausler, Dr. Brent Dover, Dr. Rance
Humphreys, Stephen Dover, Brad Westbrook, Joel Switsky, James Jamerson
and Dr. Cliff Walker.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Great-Grandsons.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, March 14, at Autry Funeral
Home.
