Dorothy “Lorene” Darden

Services for Dorothy “Lorene” Darden, 92, of Jacksonville, will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Jacksonville. Burial will be at Mixon Cemetery.

Mrs. Darden died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at a Jacksonville hospital. She was born Dec. 24, 1914, in Troup to Paul Vernon and Lillie Belle Ross.

She was a homemaker and was a member of First Baptist Church of Mixon.

She is preceded in death by parents, Paul and Lillie Ross; sisters, Nellie Pearle Gattis and Joyce Kathryn Glover; first husband, Rubin Wesley Roper in 1959 and second husband, Johnny Willie Darden in 1991. Survivors include son, Wesley Roper of Jacksonville; daughter Paula Etheridge of College Station; brother Curtis Ross of Jacksonville; sister, Molly Rene Smith of Pasadena; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was 4-7 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
