Roy H. Clem

Services for Roy H. Clem, 90, of the Henry’s Chapel community, near Troup, will be at 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at the Henry’s Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tolbert Dill officiating. Burial will be at Henry’s Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home of Troup.

Mr. Clem died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, in a Tyler hospice facility. He was born Oct. 10, 1916, in Cherokee County to the late Alvah Percival Clem and Irena Warren Clem.

He was a lifetime resident of Troup and was a lifetime member of the Henry’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Dixie Masonic Lodge No. 272, Troup.

He married Minnie Lee Kee, Dec. 21, 1938.

Mr. Clem was an Army Veteran of World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Clyora Shuttlesworth and Gladys Clem.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Minnie Lee Kee Clem of Henry’s Chapel; four sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Becky Clem of Whitehouse, Billy and Rhydonia Clem of Henry’s Chapel, Garry and Phyllis Clem of Jacksonville, and Sherman and Brenda Clem of Tyler; two brothers, Herman Nichols, Price and Shirley Clem of Bullard; two sisters, Florene Norman of Flint and Judith Hale of Troup; six grandchildren, Christopher Clem, Marcus Clem, Katherine Kelly, Karen Castro, Ashley Clem, and Adam Clem; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor Clem, Myles Clem, and Kennedy Clem.

Sons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at the funeral home.
