JOHN S. (JACK) CLEMENTS

Funeral for John S. (Jack) Clements, 84, of Independence, Mo. was at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial with full military honors was in Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery. Mr. Clements was the father of Keith Clements of Rusk. Mr. Clements died Friday, Oct. 26. He was born Dec. 2, 1922, in Gilliam, Mo. to Marion and Catherine Winning Clements.

He moved to Independence in 1951 and worked for several years for the Brotherhood of Boilermaker's Union Local #83 until on the job injury forced him to retire in 1981. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Englewood Assembly of God. He married Bettie Adcock on March 16, 1951.

Survivors are his wife, Bettie Clements of Independence; three sons and daughters-inlaw, John Jr. and Diane Clements of Independence, Mo., Chuck and Evon Clements of Blue Springs, Mo. and Keith and Linda Clements of Rusk; two daughters, Nancy Catherine Clements and her companion Donald Doolin of Independence, Mo. and Connie Holt and her husband Jeff of Lee's Summit, Mo.; two brothers, Joe Clements of Miami, Mo. and W.E. Clements of Slater, Mo.; two sisters, Alice Phillips and Esther Rhea Peel both of Slater, Mo.; 10 grandchildren including Charlotte Clements of Rusk and 7 great-grandchildren.
