OLETA BYERS

 

Funeral for Oleta Byers, 86, of Oakland will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, in Oakland Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. R.S. Dyess officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Mrs. Byers died April 6. She was born Oct. 25, 1921, to Harrison and Minnie Butler Yarborough. She was a resident of Oakland for 30 years and a member of Oakland Missionary Baptist Church.

She previously owned and operated Oleta's Beauty Salon in La Porte for many years. She had also worked for various beauty salons in the Rusk area. Mrs. Byers was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star, Rusk/Alto Chapter #79. She was past worthy matron in the Rusk chapter as well as in La Porte. She received her certificate and 50 year pin as a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, M.E. Byers of Oakland; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Shawn Dean of Oakland; grandson, Clint Salyer of Oakland; granddaughter, Kayla Dean of Oakland; and great-grandson, Dustin Roy Salyer of Oakland. Pallbearers will be Wade Odom, Mark Odom, Michael See, Dustin Roy Salyer, Timothy Roach, Ken McClure, Michael Bobbitt and Jim Perry.

Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home will be in charge.

 Funeral services for Oleta Byers, 86, of Oakland community are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Oakland Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.

Mrs. Byers died April 6, at a Rusk hospital. She was born Oct. 25, 1921, to Harrison and Minnie Butler Yarborough.
