Elmer Leroy Burran
Graveside services with full military honors for Elmer Leroy Burran, 79,
of Rusk are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, August 13, 2007 in Central
Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas under the direction of
Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.
Mr. Burran died August 10, 2007 in a Tyler hospital
He was born November 18, 1927 in Weches, Texas to the late John and Lila
Henley Burran.
He was a resident of Rusk for 20 years, formerly of Louisiana. Mr.
Burran was Baptist. Mr. Burran retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years
in the service as Seargeant First Class. He served in the Korean and
Vietnam conflicts and was a combat engineer serving in Germany.
Preceded in death by his wife, Martha Lee Burran; brothers, J.W. and
Leon Burran and a sister, Wanda Faye Burran.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Les and Judy Burran of
Denver, Colorado; daughter Karen Harrington of Denton, Texas;
sister-in-law Roseanne Burran of Rusk; grandson and his wife Troy and
Jennifer Burran of Baltimore, Maryland, grandson Daniel Dillon of
Denver, Colorado; grandson Brian Dillon of Phoenix, Arizona; three
great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and
nephews.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2007 at
the funeral home.
