VERLENE DUPLICHAIN BIRDSONG

Funeral for Verlene Duplichain Birdsong, 61, was at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Alto First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Haley officiating. Burial was in the Duplichain- Black Cemetery in Alto.

Mrs. Birdsong died Aug. 29. She was born Sept. 3, 1945, in Port Arthur to Herman and Novelle Black Duplichain, who preceded her in death. She had lived in Alto for the last 20 years and taught at Alto Middle School for the last 18 years.

She was a member of the Ponta Baptist Church, where her husband serves as minister. She was a former member of the Alto First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Adam Birdsong.

Survivors are her husband, Randall Birdsong of Alto; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Amy Birdsong of Whitehouse; a brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Betty Duplichain of Alto; two grandchildren, Noah and Hayden.

Pallbearers were Jason Duplichain, Jeffrey Duplichain, Paul Black, Jerry Black, Terry Black, Kerry Black, Jonathan Black and Kyle Griffith.

O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
