Charles R. Bird

Graveside services for Charles R. Bird, 67, of Longview, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at McDonald Cemetery, New Summerfield, with Reverend Donny Sadler officiating. Interment will follow in McDonald Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home, Longview. Mr. Bird passed away Thursday morning in a Longview hospital. He was born March 2, 1940 in New Summerfield to the late Jim and Evie Moose Bird. He was the operator of a salvage business. Mr. Bird was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Harold (Blue) Bird and Gerald Bird; and a sister: Florence Westmoreland. He is survived by his wife Linda of Longview; daughters, Alana Blanks and her husband Mark of Longview, Sheri Meador and her husband Gary of Hallsville, Stacy Smith of Hallsville and Tonya Watson of Jacksonville; brothers, James (Buddy) Bird of Kingwood, Donald Bird and his wife Pat of Summit, Miss. and Richard Bird and Joy of New Summerfield; sisters, Edith Searcy of Concord and Ruth Martin of Jacksonville and 10 grandchildren.
