Funeral for James Roy (Jim) Batson, 68, of Cushing was at 2 p.m. Nov. 16 in the Dickie Allen Funeral Home chapel with Ronnie Luman officiating. Burial was in Pirtle Cemetery. Mr. Batson died Nov. 13. He was born Oct. 9, 1940, in Baker, Fla. to James Earl and Francis Iona Long Batson. He was a Baptist and had lived in Cushing for 18 years. He worked as a carpenter and mechanic.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors are his wife, Janeace (Jan) Channel Batson of Cushing; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Pat Elsner of San Antonio, Lisa and Frankie Capps of Nauvoo, Ala. and Tiffany Watts of Baker, Fla.; two sons and a daughter in law, Matthew Wade and Leah Batson of Nacogdoches and Jimmy Batson of Baker; two sisters and a brother-in law, Elizabeth and Paul Sexton and Wilma Peadon, all of Baker; a brother, Steve Batson of Sutherland Spring; a brother in law and sister-in-law, Glen and Darvis Channel of Rusk; grandchildren, Jason and wife, Jennifer Elsner of Houston and Michael Milner, Brian Milner and Kelly Milner, all of San Antonio; and great-grandchildren, Emily Louetta Elsner, Ethan Owen Elsner, Mendy Watts and Brittany Watts.
