Kenneth Earl Acker
Kenneth Earl Acker, 70, of Jacksonville peacefully passed away, Aug.
7, 2007 at the Hospice of East Texas facility in Tyler. He was born Nov.
18, 1936 in Maydelle. He attended school from grade school to high
school in Maydelle and later attended Stephen F. Austin University for
two years.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at the Thompson
Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on
Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Bro. George Folinar officiating
and Bro. Ken McEachern assisting. Burial will follow at Providence
Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Ruby Acker and
brothers, Dean Acker and C. Nathan Acker.
He served over 35 years as an East Texas law enforcement officer,
working for Jacksonville Police Department, Polk County Sheriff's
Department and Cherokee County Sheriff's Department.
He was married to Marva Ault on April 13, 1957 and they had celebrated
50 years together on April 13, 2007.
Survivors included his wife, Marva Acker of Jacksonville; brother Harold
Acker, Sr. and sister-in-law, Sylvia Acker of Jacksonville;
Sister-in-law, Linda Acker of Jacksonville; son, Douglas Acker of
Jacksonville; daughters, Donna Prasatik and husband, Mitchell Prasatik
of Grapeland, Debbie Price and husband, Bill Price of Bonham;
grandchildren, Kasey Bobbltt and husband, Ryan Bobbitt of Grapeland,
Mandy Prasatik and Tanner Prasatilc of Grapeland; great-grand children,
Justin Bobbltt and Jason Bobbitt, of Grapeland; nieces and nephews and
numerous cousins.
Pallbearers will be Harold Acker, Jr., Marvin Acker, Nathan Acker, Jr.,
Leland Acker, Jr. Ault and J. T. Lewis. Honorary pallbearers: Texas law
enforcement officers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to the
Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, TX 75701.
