Elroy White
Services for Elroy White, 93, of Jacksonville, will be held at 2 p.m.
Saturday, July 21, 2007, at New Hope Baptist Church, with the Rev. C.L.
Anderson, the Rev. Robert Christopher and the Rev. T.L. Walker
officiating. Burial will be at Jacksonville City Cemetery.
Mr. White died July 17, 2007, in Jacksonville. He was born June 3, 1914,
in Oak Hurst, Texas. He attended Churchill Public School and graduated
from Fred Douglas High School. He was an active member of New Hope
Baptist Church and was a retired granite monument cutter. He was also a
member of the new progressive Masonic Lodge No. 357. He served on the
deacon board as treasurer, trustee and church clerk, and was secretary
of the Sunday School. He is preceded in death by his wife, Velma White;
his parents, his son, Frenchell White; his grandson, two step-sisters
and six step-brothers.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Lester and Stella White
of Mesquite; his daughter-in-law, Roberta White of Jacksonville; his
three granddaughters, Alisa White of Jacksonville, Evetta White of
Mesquite and Sharon Shree Motley of Houston; his three grandsons, Andre
White of Oklahoma City, Carlos White of Jacksonville and Jerome White of
Jacksonville; his 12 great-grandchildren and 12
great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers include Donny Hogg, Lewis Session, Cecil Richardson, Willie
Lee Claybrone, Radie Freeman and Earnest Ray Claybrone.
Honorary pallbearers include the deacons of New Hope Baptist Church, the
Churchill Community and the stewards of Churchill C.M.E. Church.
