Richard Herbert “Hub” Smith

Funeral services for Richard Herbert “Hub” Smith, 101, of Rusk, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Rev. Newton Hambrick officiating.

Burial will at Jarratt Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Mr. Smith died Monday, June 25, 2007 in a Rusk nursing home.

He was born Feb. 19, 1906 in Dallas County, Arkansas.

Mr. Smith was a bookkeeper for a building contractor, served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a member of East Side Baptist Church, Rusk.

He was preceded in death by his wife Maggie Bell “Billie” Smith and parents J. N. and Viola Smith

Mr. Smith is survived by his sister Sadie Cobb and her husband Tom of Memphis, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

HUB SMITH

Funeral for Richard Herbert (Hub) Smith, 101, of Rusk will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Thompson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Newton Hambrick and the Rev. Byron Jones officiating. Mr. Smith died June 25. He was born Feb. 19, 1906, in Dallas County, Ark.

He was a bookkeeper for a building contractor, a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a member of the Eastside Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Maggie Bell (Billie) Smith and his parents, J.N. and Viola Smith.

Survivors are a sister and brother-in-law, Sadie and Tom Cobb of Memphis, Tenn. and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Danny Woodruff, Butch Walley, Dale Teterson, Frank McMillan, Forrest Dyess and Richard Massingill.
