Harry Smith
Funeral services for Harry Smith, 88, of Frankston, will be held Sunday,
July 22, 2007 at 2 p.m. in United Methodist Church of Frankston with
Doug Howell officiating under the direction of Autry Funeral Home,
Jacksonville. Burial will take place at Old Bethel Cemetery.
Mr. Smith died Thursday, July 19, 2007 at Legacy Hospice. He was born
May 3, 1919 in Eustace.
Mr. Smith formerly worked as a manager of DC Wholesale Plumbing Supply
and was employed by Sabine Supply Company before and after his tour of
duty. In 1951 he bought out a Hardware Store in Daisetta and in 1958
moved to Frankston.
He was a faithful member of United Methodist Church of Frankston where
he was a member of the Chancel Choir.
He entered the U.S. Army Medical Corp in 1941, serving in North Africa
and Italy where he was a Chief Warrant Officer and Master Sergeant
during his tour of duty and was awarded the EAME Campaign Medal with two
Bronze Stars. He was a charter member of the VFW Post 5073 and a member
of Franskston Riding Club & Trail Riders Association.
Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ida Cathy Smith;
brother, Charles Smith; sister, Marry Alice Callahan.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Smith of Frankston; sons, Ronny Smith
and Harry Roy Smith of Frankston, Dale Smith of Dallas; daughter, Jackie
Lynn Rogers of Pittsburg, Texas; step-sons, Gary Sheeley of Bryan and
Terry Sheeley of Frankston; step-daughters, Nelda Clayton of Katty and
Karen Howell of Frankston; six grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren,
eight step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, several nieces
and nephews and sister, Edith Burns of Humble.
Pallbearers include Brandon Sheeley, Jeremy Sheeley, David Sheeley,
Bryan Clayton, Jason Smith, Roy Westbrook. Honorary pallbearers will be
Ralph Crouch, Edmund Ortega, James Morris and Frank Harrison.
Visitation was Saturday, July 21 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
