J.B. Roberts

Military graveside services for J.B. Roberts, 83, of Rusk, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2007 in Mount Comfort Cemetery, Chaplain Cary Ponder officiating under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.

Mr. Roberts died May 9, 2007 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

He was born December 17, 1923 in Smith County to the late Lee and Mattie L. Baker Roberts.

He was a painter for about 45 years and was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Maydelle. Mr. Roberts served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946.

He was preceded in death by his wife Susie Sides Roberts in 2002.

He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-laws, Mary and Hubert Pruett of Athens; Jimmie and Danny Crouch of Rusk; Diane and Joe Taylor of Jacksonville and Debra and Kelton Hood of Jacksonville; four sons and daughters-in-laws, Jessie and Gloria Traylor of Reklaw; Emery Traylor of Athens; James and Minnie Roberts of Elkhart and George and Carolyn Roberts of Jacksonville; two sisters, Gracie Woods of Maydelle and Martha Gates of Dialville; 25 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Three granddaughters that loved and helped to the end were Pamela Crouch, Sue Ann Watson and Windy Porter.

Pallbearers will include Joe Taylor, Jimmy Dale Ramsey, Curtis Ramsey, Danny Paul Ramsey, Brian Hood and Cory Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Watson, Dustin Ramsey, Tate Wilson and Chad Roberts.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 10 at the funeral home.
