Mary Ethyl “Mamie” Wiggins Moore
OBITUARY
Mary Ethyl “Mamie” Wiggins Moore, 97, of Tomball died October 20, 2005, in Tomball, Texas. Born October 10, 1908, in Jacksonville, Texas, she was the daughter of William Clifton Wiggins and Lorena Holland Wiggins. Her ancestors settled in Cherokee County prior to 1847.
Mrs. Moore was the widow of Truman Thomas “Denny” Moore, founder and president of T-T Construction Company, established in Tomball in 1946. She served as vice-president of the company.
She graduated from Jacksonville Baptist College. Among her community activities, she was den mother to her sons’ Cub Scout pack, P.T.A. volunteer, American Cancer Society volunteer, Harris County election clerk, and past president of Humble (later Tomball) Study Club. She was a member of Tomball United Methodist Church.
Predeceased by her husband, parents, and brother Jack Holland Wiggins, she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: William Clifton and Wilma Moore of Brentwood, TN; Thomas Jerry, Sr. and Patricia Moore of Denton, TX; and Robert Gene and Margaret Moore of Deer Park, TX. Also surviving are six grandchildren: William Donalson and Marissa Moore; Meredith Lee (Moore) and Jason B. Cooke; Thomas Jerry, Jr. and Susan Moore; Michael Banks Moore; David Carl and Kelli Moore; and Margaret Ruth (Moore) and Gary G. Mabry. Great-grandchildren include Alexander Thomas Moore, Andrew Lincoln Moore, Caroline McDowell Moore, Tyler Robert Moore, Alyssa Layne Moore, Grace Bruyere Mabry, and niece Janette Wiggins Murphy.
Mamie will be remembered for her enthusiasm for life, her kindness and compassion for others, and her innate sense of humor. She treasured her family and the many friends she made during her 97 years.
Visitation is scheduled Sunday, October 23, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball. Graveside services will be conducted at Klein Memorial Park SH 249 on Monday, October 24, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
