Laney Roe Minton

Services for Laney Roe Minton, 75, of Bullard, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2007, at Bullard Southern Baptist Church, with the Rev. Donnie Barron officiating, under the direction of Autry Funeral Home of Jacksonville. Burial will be at the Bullard Cemetery.

Mr. Minton died June 29, 2007, in Bullard. He was born Sept. 23, 1931, in Poynor, Texas. He worked for Nichols-Kusan for 30 years and the Smith County Road and Bridge crew for 14 years. Minton served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict, and was very active in his church, Bullard Southern Baptist Church. He was a member of the Bullard Masonic Lodge and a member of the Bullard Cemetery Association.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Buchanan and Eula Mae Morton Minton; his daughter, Cindy Diane Minton; his brother, Lawrence Minton; and his sisters, Geraldine Zorn and Olga Jones.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, LaVerne Minton of Bullard; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Tammy Minton of Bullard; his granddaughter, Sarah Minton of Bullard; his sister, Alma Murphy of Jacksonville; his sister-in-law, Doris Minton of Jacksonville; several nieces and nephews and special grandchildren, Haley Murphy, Aubrie Murphy, Jesse Harris, Jayln Harris, Jenise Harris, Taylor Fountain, Libby Eitel, Molly Duncan and Taylor Fredrick.

Pallbearers include Arlin Harris, Jack Harris, Jack Cheek, Tom Oxford, W.T. Jennings, Jimmy Bain, Billy Jack Fielding and Albert Lee.

Honorary pallbearers include Merl Salmon, Le Grosdidier and Pat O’Connell.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Bullard Southern Baptist Church building fund.
