Jimmie P. Magruder
Funeral services for Jimmie P. Magruder, 75, of Alto will be Sunday
at 2:30 p.m. at the Salem Missionary Baptist Church near Rusk with Rev.
Tommy Mabry and Rev. Don Copeland officiating. Burial will be in the
Corine Cemetery near Jacksonville.
Mr. Magruder died Wednesday in Tyler. He was born June 26, 1932 in
Dialville, Texas to A.G. & Daisy Crenshaw Magruder. Mr. Magruder lived
most of his life in Alto. He was a devout Christian and a member of the
Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
He had worked as an auto mechanic for many years in his home shop and
also worked for Pearman Chevrolet & Pearman Dodge in Alto. He worked in
Road Maintenance for Cherokee County, Pct. 2 and was a long time member
of the Alto Fire Department. He was preceded in death by sister, Ruth
Caveness and brothers, Raymond, Herbert, Lewis & Kenneth Magruder.
Mr. Magruder is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bonnie Magruder of
Alto; son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Judy Magruder of
Rusk; daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Ken Keeney of Houston,
Texas; grandchildren, JayAnna Dee Magruder, Jordan Page Magruder, Jenny
Sue Magruder, Keaton Alan Butler, Jordan Magruder Butler, Raymond Nash
Keeney, Cray Fowler Keeney, Nathan Lyle Keeney and Graham Daniel Keeney.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers
will be Elvin Peacock, Tom Boy Logan, Toby Sartain, Warren Shely, E.R.
Jones, Ronnie Norton and Joe B. Lusk.
Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home in
Alto.
