Joe Leavins
Funeral services for Joe Leavins, 90, of Jacksonville, will be held
Monday, July 2 at 2 p.m. in New Life United Pentecostal Church in
Jacksonville with reverends A.B. Keating and W.E. Shiflett officiating
under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Rusk.
Mr. Leavins died Thursday, June 28, 2007 in Jacksonville. He was born
April 17, 1917 in Tuscaloosa, Oklahoma.
He worked for years as a contractor and was a member of Veterans of
Foreign Wars in Jacksonville. He was also a faithful member of New Life
Church of Christ.
Mr. Leavins is preceded in death by his wife, Marie Leavins, daughter
Annette Paredes and son Ray Leavins.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Joyce Leavins of
Anna, La. and James and Avis Leavins of Jacksonville; daughters and
sons-in-law Mickie and Donald Guin of Jacksonville and Sheila and Gary
Nugent of Centerpoint, La.; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 4
great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include William Baum, Bryan Howell, James Leavins, Jr.,
Danon Pate, Steven Norton and Harold Stem.
Honorary Pallbearers are Pete Young, Cecil Rawlinson, Archie Baum, Carl
Baum and G.A. Baum.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 1 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
