Weldon Jackson “Buddy” Dodd

Services for Weldon Jackson “Buddy” Dodd, 82, of Jacksonville will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Bullard, with the Rev. Frank Roberson and Joel Whitmire officiating, under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Jacksonville. Burial will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery in Whitehouse.

Mr. Dodd died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at a Tyler hospital. He was born April 24, 1925 in Houchton, Georgia. He was the retired chief appraiser for the Huntsville Independent School District. He attended First Baptist Church of Bullard. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Huntsville, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his brother Ray Dodd and sisters Peggy Ray and Tacky Mitchum.

Survivors include his wife, Florence Dodd of Jacksonville, his son Rex M. Dodd of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his daughter Phyllis N. Duncan of Forney, Texas; his brothers George T. Dodd of Jacksonville and Byron Dodd of Whitehouse, his sister-in-law, Christine Dodd of Tyler his brother-in-law the Rev. Mitchum of Tyler; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers include Bryan Duncan, Ben Duncan, Cody Dodd, Jason Croley, Joel Payne and Anthony Salisbury.

Honorary pallbearers include Bradley Lewis, Larry Locke, Andy Devine, Gail Jackson, Eric Rodriguez, Randy Rodriguez and Rod Rodriguez.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at the funeral home.
