BILL COBBLE

 

Funeral for William Dee (Bill) Cobble, 72, of Rusk was at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, in the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Copeland officiating. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Cobble died April 11. He was born October 28, 1935 in Waxahachie. Mr. Cobble was a resident of Rusk for 17 years, formerly of Palestine and Waxahachie.

He retired in 1976 after 25 years at Knox Glass in Palestine. He attended Palestine High School and served in the National Guard Army Reserves from Oct. 8, 1953 to Oct.7, 1959. He was a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church.

He owned and operated Babcock Bros. in Rusk for 14 years. Mr. Cobble also had an exterminating business while employed at Knox Glass.

Preceding him in death were his son, William Keith Cobble; his parents, William and Ruby Ethyl Williams Cobble; a sister, Mary Thacher and two brothers, Robert Cobble and Leon Cobble.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Marie Cobble of Rusk; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brittany Hill Cobble Birdwell and Leslie Birdwell of Rusk and Tricia DeeAnn and Gilbert Torres of Fort Worth; two sons Stephen Justin Cobble of Rusk and Mark Dwayne Cobble of Palestine; five granddaughters, Makinna DeeAnn Metheny and Lindsey Brooke Torres, both of Fort Worth, Amanda Calkin of Tyler, Lamanda O'Neal of Palestine, Kayla Collette of Palestine; three grandsons, Joel Collin Torres of Fort Worth, Jacob Keith Cobble of Palestine, and William Joe Cobble of Florida; three great-grandchildren, Anna Cobble and Andrew Cobble, both of Florida and KyAnn O'Neal of Palestine; and a sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Doug Pryor of Frankston.

Pallbearers were Deaton Goff, Gilbert Torres, Kenny Birdwell, David Sosby and Leslie Birdwell.
