ELLA MAE BURSE
Funeral for Ella Mae Burse, 85, of Jacksonville, was at 1 p.m. Thursday at the New Birth Church of the Living God with Bishop Dr. James Berry officiating. Burial was in Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto, Calif. under the direction of Williams Funeral Home and Jones Mortuary.
Mrs. Burse died May 3, 2007. She was born March 23, 1922, in Lake Charles, La. She graduated from the Second Ward High School and attended the school of nursing in San Francisco, Calif. for several years before moving to Jacksonville. She was employed as a nurse at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in San Francisco and retired from the Stanford University Hospital in 1984. Survivors are a son, Henderson L. Love of Houston; two daughters, Doris Jean Love of Houston and Prophetess DeAnn Torregano of Jacksonville; a brother, Leo Allen Holmes of Lake Charles; a sister, Norma Lee Warmsley of San Francisco; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Melvin Christopher, Otis Taylor, Renard Harden and Ronnie Williams. Xerxes Sanders and Charles Hamlett were honorary pallbearers.
