Virginia Louise Sosby Blades “Nanny,”
Graveside services for Virginia Louise Sosby Blades “Nanny,” 80, of
Crystal Beach, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007 at
Jarratt Cemetery, Jacksonville, with Mr. Davy Carter officiating.
Services are under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Mrs. Blades passed on to another life late Wednesday, July 4, 2007 in
Winnie. She will be reunited with her parents David and Alva Sosby,
sister, Verna Mae and brother David Sosby, Jr.
Affectionately called “Sweet Nanny” by all who knew her, she will be
sorely missed for her wit and wisdom and by her down-home East Texas
cooking.
Born September 9, 1926 in Rusk, Mrs. Blades formerly worked for
Southwest Distributing Co. in Houston. Later, she served on the
Municipal Courts in Jacksonville and was a councilwoman in New
Summerfield.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Kenneth Gose
of Crystal Beach; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Wendell Jordan
of Kosse; grandson, Robert Shannon Gardner and wife Sheri;
great-grandson, Camden Eugene Gardner; granddaughter, Leigh Erin Rivera
and her husband Rodney; great-grandson, Raleigh Rivera and
great-granddaughter Samantha Fluck, all of Crystal Beach;
great-granddaughters, Ashley Fluck of Galveston and numerous Nieces,
Nephews, and Cousins from around the state.
