Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and Cemetery was

organized before the civil war, few written records before 1871.
The land was deeded in 1871 by William Collier, more was given in
1872 by Wiley P. Cole, more in 1882 by H.N. Lusk. The first church
was across the road from the present one. The church is still used
for services, and it has original hand made pews. Earliest
