The first burial in the Hester Cemetery was in 1873.  S.M. Hester buried his daughter Alice and donated land for a cemetery.  Alice was the first Hester that was born in Texas, the others came from Mississippi.

Note:  In the Miscellaneous column, information in upper case is found on the tombstone.  My notes are in lower case.  The dates have been changed to day/month/year format to enable sorting by date.  Enumeration  was done by Wayne Edwards on 23 Aug 1997, beginning at the southwest corner and continuing left to right, row by row and updated as new burials occur.  There are currently 174 graves.  The NO. column is the sequential order of enumeration.  Most of the information on relationships obtained from LeNell Wallace Carter and Dianna Hester Carlquist.
