       NEW EMMAUS CEMETERY      

 

New Emmaus Cemetery is located at 3140 FM 856 N, Troup, TX 75789.   From New Summerfield, go East to FM 856, then North 2 miles to the cemetery. New Emmaus Cemetery Assn. , Sharon McFarland, secretary-Treasurer, 4495 FM 856 N, Troup, TX 75789 ; Sonny McFarland, Caretaker, 903-842-3168. 

The New Emmaus  Cemetery Association meets the fourth Sunday in June.

Emmaus was never a large community. Emmaus was settled in the 1860s. At its height it boasted two general stores, two churches, a school and a cotton gin. All that remains is the New Emmaus Baptist Church and its adjacent cemetery. Texas Historical Commission Marker
