     PLAINVIEW CEMETERY

Submitted by Ira Gaylon White

Surveyed in October of 2001. This African American cemetery is located near the intersection of Hwy 110 and Hwy 204, in the community of Ponta.
According to the caretaker, Homer Johnson, the McKinnies in Row 8 are the only Caucasians buried here. From the intersection, go .2 mi east
on Hwy 204; north on FM 2274 for .1 mi; east on CR 4401 approx .2 mi.on the north side of the road. Some sections of this cemetery are quite
overgrown and has many unmarked graves and broken stones; especially on the older side (west). The rows are uneven but, while surveying, we
tried to identify rows as such. We began on the east side of the cemetery and worked to the west. There are no discernible graves from
the east border to Row 1.
