Plain Dealer Fired Upon From Ambush
JACKSONVILLE, Tex., Nov. 24 -- Last night while
Jack McElroy and Phil Owen, farmers, were going
home, they were fired upon from ambush. Owen
was instantly killed. The sheriff and posse have
arrested five men, three of whom were interested
in getting McElroy out of the way, as he is an
important witness against parties in a state case.
It is feared the farmers of the neighborhood will
take the prisoners from the jail and lynch them.
