Thedford-Farmer
Mr. and Mrs. David L. Thedford of Jacksonville announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Amanda Nicole, to Justin Earl Farmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Farmer of Jacksonville and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Fennell of Frankston. Miss Thedford is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Glass and Catherine Thedford and the late Edwin Thedford. Mr. Farmer is the grandson of Barbara Farmer and the late Earl Farmer. The couple will be married Aug. 16 at the First Baptist Church at Mixon.

Slates-Morris wedding vows spoken in Canton, Ohio
Carol Ann Temple Morris and Michael Lynn Slates were married Saturday, June 7, at The Canterbury Chapel in North Canton, Ohio. The Rev. Fred Bosnakovic officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Carolyn and George Samko of North Canton, Ohio and the granddaughter of the late Thomas J. and Martha Rose Kent of Cassopolis, Mich. The groom is the son of Ronald and Oneida Slates of Carrollton, Ohio and the grandson of the late Donald Slates; and Mary Jane and Grant Rutledge of Scio, Ohio and the late Cora and O'Neil Smith.
The groom is superintendent of maintenance at Canton Drop Forge, Canton, Ohio and the bride is also employed in the MIS Department at Canton Drop Forge.
She grew up in Jacksonville and attended school there. She resided in Rusk for 10 years and was employed at Austin Bank.
Candle lighters were the bride's aunt and uncle, Betty and Terry McKenzie of Cassopolis, Mich. and sister-in-law of groom, Wendy Slates of Scio, Ohio and brother-in-law of the groom, Kevin Kohler of Minerva, Ohio.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a white strapless satin corset gown with apple red beaded lace detail and a two-tiered elbow length veil with apple corded edge, accented with red crystals and matching garden bouquet tiara, necklace and earrings with Swarovski crystals and pearls. She carried a white silk calla lily bridal bouquet.
Her mother, Mrs. Samko, was matron of honor. Flower girl was her daughter, Carlie Morris.
Bridesmaids were Dawn Bunnell, sister of the groom, of Canton, Ohio and Sandy Kohler of Minerva, Ohio. Best man was brother of the groom, Stephen Slates of Scio.
The matron of honor wore an apple sleeveless satin vneck dress with slim skirt and the bridesmaids wore apple strapless satin ball gowns with side ruching and beaded bodice. Each carried white calla lily bouquets. The flower girl wore a white satin princess a-line gown.
Groomsmen were Pete Morsheiser of Carrollton, Larry McGonagle of Beloit and Bryan Bunnell of Canton, Ohio.
Mothers of the bride and groom lit the unity candle before the ceremony.
A memorial candle was lit by the groom for those family members no longer with the couple.
A reception was held after the wedding ceremony at The 356th Fighter Group in North Canton, Ohio.
Following a honeymoon in Surfside Beach, S.C. the couple resides in North Canton, Ohio.

Taylor-Cannon
Lynn and Theresa Taylor of Palestine announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Leanne Taylor of Neches, to Chad Lee Cannon of Neches, son of Barbara and Darrell Wallace of Rusk and David and Rosemary Cannon of Jacksonville. The couple will be married at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Castle on the Lake in Jacksonville.

Parsons-Parker will marry
Mr. and Mrs. Don Parsons of Rusk and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Parker of Jacksonville announce the engagement of their children, Whitney Ray Parsons and Joseph Wayne Parker. Ms. Parsons is a graduate of American Christian Academy and Mr. Parker is a graduate of Jacksonville Heights High School. Both are employed at Rusk State Hospital. Grandparents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Parsons of Rusk and the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dickson and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Armet and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Parker, all of Lufkin. The couple will be married Dec. 13.
Watson-Tyler
The engagement of Mary Etta Watson and Joshua Clinton Tyler has been announced. Miss Watson is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Jack Watson Jr. of Douglass. Mr. Tyler is the son of Lisha Whitton of Rusk and Raymond Tyler of Corrigan. Miss Watson is the granddaughter of Billie Watson of Tyler, the late Jack Watson Sr., Climmie Nelson of Eros, La. and the late Rupert Nelson Sr. Mr. Tyler's grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Paul Spencer of Nacogdoches. The couple will be married at 2 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Nacogdoches First Baptist Church. They will make their home in Chapel Hill.
Couple will renew marriage vows
Theresa Youngjoo Justine Kim and Nathan Harold Parrish, who were married Feb. 23 in Las Vegas, Nev. will renew their vows Sept. 1 at the Center for Urban Horticulture at the University of Washington in Seattle.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. B. Sung Kim and Kyung Mi Min Kim of West Windsor, N.J. She was born in Princeton, N.J. in 1979, graduated from West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South, N.J. in 1997 and graduated with Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and French with honors from Bryn Mawr College in 2001.
She graduated with a Master of Science in statistics from University of Washington-Seattle School of Public Health and Community Medicine in 2006. She currently is a research statistician at a small biotech firm in Seattle, Wash.
The groom is the son of Harold and Margaret Parrish of Rusk. He was born in Austin, in 1978, graduated from Rusk High School in 1997 as valedictorian and graduated with Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering with honors from the United States Military Academy in 2001. He was a Rhodes Scholar nominee and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. and stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington in 2001.
He served as a Communications Officer in the military police battalion in 2003-04 while stationed in Iraq. He was awarded a Bronze Star Medal.
He joined the IRR in 2006 and began PhD graduate studies in Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington-Seattle College of Engineering.
He currently is a national department science and engineering research scholar.
