  Engagement announced

Rayferd and Angie Colburn of Humble announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Tiffinie Lee, to Brian Christopher Garner, son of Zana and Don Garner Jr. of Rusk.

Miss Colburn's grandparents are Patricia and Ray Putz of Kingwood, Ross and June Berry of Houston, Emma and Mark Dietz of Houston and the late A.J. Colburn. Mr. Garner's grandparents are Don and Connie Garner of Gallatin, Larry and Martha Sockwell of Jacksonville, Bill Eckel of Rusk and the late Zana (Mickie) Eckel.

Miss Colburn is an accountant at Delek Refining LTD and Mr. Garner is employed as a surveyor at Thompson and Associates both in Tyler.

They couple will marry at 3 p.m. Feb. 2 at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Kingwood. Friends are invited.

  Slaton-Jacobs

Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Slaton of Jacksonville announce the engagement of their daughter, Megan Michele, to Matthew Curtis Jacobs, son of Ann Longworth of Waverly, Ohio and Mark Jacobs of Coshocton, Ohio. Miss Slaton is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Halbert of Rusk and Mildred Slaton of Athens, formerly of Rusk. She is a Jacksonville High School graduate and will graduate in December from Jacksonville College. Mr. Jacobs is a graduate of Coshocton High School and is a sergeant in the U.S. Army recently returning from a tour in Iraq. They will marry Dec. 22 at the Lon Morris College chapel.

  Cartier

Nancy and Howard Nesselhauf of Jacksonville announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Laura, to James Cartier, son of Sylvia and James Cartier of Austin. The couple will be married in the spring. She is a graduate of Austin High School in Austin and Texas State University at San Marcos. He is a graduate of Bowie High School in Austin and Texas State University in San Marcos.
