Hassell, Bentley plan July wedding
Ashley Marie Hassell and James Douglas Bentley Jr. would like to
announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.
Ashley is the daughter of F.E. and Janice Hassell and a 2006 graduate of
Jacksonville High School. She is currently employed at her family’s
convenience store, located in New Hope on Lake Jacksonville.
Ashley will attend Jacksonville College in the fall, but is undecided on
her major.
James is the son of Nita Sonnier and James Bentley Sr. and a 1998
graduate of Rusk High School. He is currently employed with ETMC as an
emergency medical technician and will be attending paramedic school in
the fall. He is also a volunteer firefighter for Earle’s Chapel and New
Summerfield.
James and Ashley will be married on July 14, 2006 at 7 p.m. at the home
of Robert and Claudia Smith on Lake Jacksonville.
The theme of the wedding is Luau, as well as the reception, which will
also take place at the Smith’s residence.
The bridesmaids will wear grass skirts and different colored tank tops.
They include Alyssa Pryor as maid of honor, Brittany Violetto, Dana
Smith, Tasha Berry and Savannah Berry. Madison Holman will act as the
flower girl.
The groomsmen will wear khaki shorts and different colored t-shirts.
They include Michael Sessions as best man, Bryan Stewart, Bill Bentley,
J. J. Morgan and Franklin Hassell Junior.
The couple will have a honeymoon in Galveston and then reside in
Jacksonville.
Johnson, Rose to marry
Mr. and Mrs. Buddy and Taffy Johnson of Baton Rouge, La. are proud to
announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Sara
Xochitl Johnson of Texarkana to William Thomas “Tommy” Rose of Bridge
City, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill and Shelly Rose.
The bride-elect is a 2003 Redwater High School graduate and a 2005
graduate of Jacksonville College.
While at JC, she was involved with choir and mission band.
She is currently employed by Franklin Bank in Jacksonville.
The groom-elect is a 2004 graduate of Bridge City High School and a 2006
graduate of JC.
While at JC, he was involved with the ministerial alliance, choir,
Student Government Association and mission band. He is currently
employed as a youth minister at Enon Baptist Church in Gilmer.
The couple will wed July 29, 2006, at First Baptist Church in
Jacksonville.

Vela, Lara engaged
Juan Vela of Henderson is pleased to announce the engagement and
upcoming marriage of his daughter, Lourdes “Lulu” Vela of Henderson, to
Martin “Marty” Lara of Jacksonville, son of Juanita Escoto of
Jacksonville.
The couple will wed July 15, 2006, at Mountain View Camp.
The bride-elect is a 2003 graduate of West Rusk High School in New
London. The bridegroom-elect is currently employed at Astro Air.

Lake, Bingham plan October wedding
Ray and Brenda Lake of Jacksonville are proud to announce the engagement
of their daughter, Cassie Lake to Chris Bingham, son of Brent and
Charlotte Bingham of Jacksonville. The couple will wed Saturday, October
7, 2006.

Hesterley, Smith to plan wedding
Kent Hesterley of Tecula and Kay and Andy Parish of Jacksonville are
proud to announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their daughter,
Amy Kearston Hesterley, to Lucas Allen Smith of Jacksonville, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Debbie Dyess of Jacksonville and Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Smith of
Sheffield.
The couple will wed September 30, 2006, at the home of Cathy and Steve
Hesterley.
McMakin, Meza married
Tiffiney Denise McMakin and Jackilee Meza were united in marriage at
8 p.m. Sunday, June 11, on The Tall Ship Elissa in Galveston.
The bride is the daughter of Bryan McMakin of Gallatin and Corliss Adams
of Mixon. Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Robert McMakin of
Jacksonville and Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Melton of Mixon.
Tiffiney is a 2004 graduate of Jacksonville High School and attended
Jacksonville College and The University of Texas at Tyler. She is
employed by Advanced Analytical in Tyler.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Adan Meza Jr. of Jacksonville.
Grandparents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Adan Meza Sr. and Mr. and
Mrs. Sammy Seagroves of Jacksonville. Great-grandparents of the groom
are Marguerite Johnston and the late C.P. Johnston.
Jack is a 2003 graduate of Jacksonville High School, 2005 graduate of
Jacksonville College and is employed by JC Penny’s in Tyler.
Given in marriage by her father, the wedding ceremony was held on board
the Elissa at sunset.
Dr. Tony Cleaver of Jacksonville performed the double-ring ceremony.
More than 50 family members and friends were aboard the ship to witness
the vows.
The reception was held after the ceremony in the Texas Seaport Museum
adjacent to the Elissa.
White tables adorned with vases of white baby rose buds were placed
around the theater room.The bride and groom shared a table for their wedding cake.
The bride’s cake was a two-tiered white wedding cake with red and pink
roses on top. The groom’s chocolate cake was decorated with red roses.
Punch, a secret recipe from the bride’s great-aunt, was the center of
the table and served by Glenda McMakin.
Ashley Adams, sister of the bride, served the bride’s cake. Jennifer
Meza, sister of the groom, served the groom’s cake.
The couple honeymooned in Galveston a few days before returning to Tyler
where they will reside.
Tiffiney was honored with a bridal shower May 20, at Tabernacle Baptist
Church in Jacksonville.
The bride-elect’s colors of red, white and silver were carried
throughout the fellowship hall.
Guests were greeted at the door and asked to write some words of advice
on a card for the bride and sign their name on the back.
After opening gifts and refreshments were served, these words were read
aloud and the honoree had to guess who had written them.
For each correct answer, the honoree chose a useful kitchen gadget.
When all cards were read, Tiffiney was presented a book to keep the
advice cards in.
Refreshments were served from a beautiful table with red, white and
silver decorations.
A large white cake with a picture of Tiffiney and Jack in the center was
served to the guests along with punch and assorted appetizers.
Hostesses for the occasion were Jerrie Sue Cleaver, Mary Lou Kellar, Sue
Gore, Gwen Newburn, Elaine Beal, Bonnie Dickson, Polly Fredrick,
Anabelle Anderson and Jan Brazier.
Special guests were mother of the bride, Corliss Adams, and mother of
the groom, Melanie Meza; grandmothers of the bride, Glenda McMakin and
Glenda Melton; grandmothers of the groom, Rita Seagroves and Maria Meza;
and great-grandmother of the groom, Marguerite Johnston.
