Spurgeon, Comer engaged
Dr. and Mrs. Jim Spurgeon of Jacksonville would like to announce the
engagement of their daughter, Erin Beth Spurgeon, to Andrew Jack Comer,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Comer of Bridge City, Texas.
Erin and Andy are planning a May wedding at First Baptist Church in
Jacksonville.
Leviston, Tanyi soon to marry
Jerry and Anne Leviston of Rusk announce the engagement and approaching
marriage of their daughter, Nyja Jyna, to Emile Tanyi, son of Paul and
Justina Tanyi of Cameroon, Africa. The couple will be married Feb. 18 in
Rusk.
Sumpter, Jowell plan wedding
Rex and Connie Jowell of Jacksonville are pleased to announce the
engagement of their son Christopher Rex Jowell to Kelli Danielle Sumpter,
daughter of Frank and Cindy Sumpter of Longview.
Grandparents of the groom-elect are Cecil and Shirley Swinn and Alvalyn
Jowell of Jacksonville.
Grandparents of the bride-elect are Frank and Louise Sumpter of
Sallisaw, Okla. and Ruby June Daniel of Mineola.Chris is a 1995 graduate of Jacksonville High School and a 2000 graduate
of the University of Texas at Tyler with a bachelor’s degree in business
and marketing. He is employed by Titan Telecom of Shreveport, La.Kelli is a 2003 graduate of Longview High School and attends Kilgore
College majoring in court reporting. She is currently employed at
Cavender’s Boot City.
The couple will exchange their vows on Saturday, March 18, 2006, at
Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview.

Mertz, Smith plan wedding
The Rev. and Mrs. Max Mertz of College Station are pleased to announce
the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Claire
Elizabeth Mertz to Jacob Sean Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Smith of
Jacksonville, Texas.
Grandparents of the bride-elect are Adele Bennett of Houston and the
late Owen Bennett and Ralph Mertz of College Station and the late Claire
Mertz.
Grandparents of the prospective groom are the late Ray and Wanda Patton
of Jacksonville and Mildred Smith of Jacksonville and the late R.E.
Smith.
Claire is a 2002 graduate of A&M Consolidated High School and will
graduate in May 2006 with a B.S. in Fashion Merchandising from Stephen
F. Austin State University.
Jacob is a 2002 graduate of Jacksonville High School and graduated in
December 2005 with a B.S. in Speech Communications from Stephen F.
Austin State University. He is now a Masters of Divinity student at
Perkins School of Theology in Dallas.
The couple will wed July 1, 2006, at A&M United Methodist Church in
College Station.
Ingram, Bevel engaged
Virgil and Wendy Twedt, of Jacksonville, are proud to announce the
engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Casey Lea Ingram, to
Brian Scott Bevel of Jacksonville, son of Charles and Kim Bevel.
Miss Ingram is a 2003 graduate of Jacksonville High School, and a 2005
graduate of Lon Morris College. She is currently attending The
University of Texas at Tyler where she plans on graduating in December
2006. Mr. Bevel is a 2001 graduate of Jacksonville High School, and is
currently employed as a Computer and Satellite Technician by MD, Totco
Oilfield Services of Houston.
The couple will be the first to wed at The Villa Di Felicita in Tyler,
on April 22, 2006.
Perkins, Fonville to wed
Mr. and Mrs. James Perkins, of Rusk and Tyler, are proud to announce the
engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Laura Catherine
Perkins, to Jerry Alan Fonville, of Dallas.
Jerry is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike McGough, of Warren, and the late
Jerry Fonville.
The couple plan to wed on April 29 at First United Methodist Church in
Dallas.
Bass, Powell plan nuptials
Ms. Susan Bass of Crockett, Texas and Mr. John Bass of Hilltop Lakes,
Texas, announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Carey Laine Bass,
to Mr. Brandon Wade Powell, son of Mrs. Debbie Leinback of Jacksonville,
Texas, and Mr. Cliff Powell of Jacksonville, Texas. The wedding is
planned for April 8, 2006.
Murphey, Waller marry
Butch and Karen Jackson, of Jacksonville, and Rod and Wanda Murphy, of
Longview, are proud to announce the engagement and marriage of their
daughter, Amy Gayle Murphy, to Emmitt Waller Jr., son of Emmitt and
Janita Waller of Jacksonville.
The couple was married at 6 p.m. on Feb. 18 in a double-ring ceremony at
Oak Grove Bible Church, with David Anderson officiating.
DeAnna Waller served as maid of honor, and Amy Murphy and Casey Shaw
were bridesmaids.Flower girl was Gracie Jackson, and Austin Thompson was ring bearer.Skip Carpenter served as best man, and J.J. Murphy and Robert Wilson
were groomsmen.Ushers were Brandon Hart and Chris Chandler.
A reception was held at Oak Grove Bible Church after the ceremony.The bride is a 2000 graduate of Jacksonville High School. She is
employed by B & J Transport.The groom is a 1997 graduate of Jacksonville High School. He is employed
by B & J Transport.After the wedding, the couple will reside in Jacksonville.
Tijerina, Galyean wed
Megan Leigh Tijerina, daughter of Lloyd and Margerette Smith, and Chad
Daniel Galyean, son of Paul and Jean Galyean, were married in a double
ring ceremony at 2 p.m. on Dec. 18, 2005, at Craft Baptist Church, with
Leon Ross officiating.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.Lisa Ransom, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor.Flower girl was Raeleigh Tijerina, daughter of the bride, and Lucas
Tijerina, son of the bride, was ring bearer.Scott Alexander, friend of the groom, was best man.Usher was Keith Smith, brother of the bride.
After a wedding trip to Hot Springs, Ark., the couple will reside in
Jacksonville.
Dafft, Garmon celebrated at showers
A wedding shower buffet dinner held Feb. 3 at Calvary Baptist Church
celebrated the union of Natalie Dafft and Daniel Garmon, married Jan. 28
at the church.
Linda Johnson, hostess, served enchiladas, pinto beans, Spanish rice,
pico de gallo and German chocolate cake. The bride’s aunt and
grandmother prepared the enchiladas, made with homemade tortillas.
Guests were shown childhood pictures of the bride and groom and guessed
the ages pictured.
Sandra King and Gale Swartz, aunts of the groom, hosted an earlier
shower, held Jan. 21, in Willis. The event also served to congratulate
the groom on his graduation from Marine basic training.
A buffet dinner of ham, croissant sandwiches, beans, chips and cake was
served to guests.

Petty, Smith plan wedding
Tom and Claudia Petty of Jacksonville are proud to announce the
engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Jo Petty, to Eric
Smith of Jacksonville, son of Larry and Kay Smith.
Jo is a 1991 graduate of Kennard High School and a 1995 graduate of
Texas A&M University. She is currently employed by Halbert Mill Company
in Dialville.
Eric is a 1995 graduate of Jacksonville High School and is currently
employed by the Texas Department of Transportation in Jacksonville.
The couple plan to marry on March 25 at First United Methodist Church in
Crockett.
