W. O. and Bell Berry family
The family of W. O. and Bell Berry had a reunion at the home of Joyce R. Berry Schochler at Sardis Oct. 21, 2007. Those attending were Geraldine Berry Ford, Virginia and Davy Vercher,, Andrew and Robin and Evangeline Watson, Dean and Kathy and Matthew Patrick, Melissa Maples and Eduardo Cordena and Joseph and Felia Diaz, Karon and J.W. and Jackie and Sarah O'Gorman, Lisa Johnson, Melissa and Tabatha Lynch. Also Susie and Danielle Berry and Haydn Paul Smith and Kylee Keith, Ray H. Berry, Janice Youngblood, Stormy Blue, Jeff Youngblood, Igeoma Mgbaraho, Steven Schochler, Brandon Wright, David Berry, Dennis Bissonnetfe, Susan and Chelsea Hodges, Fallon Dowling, Matt and Rhonda Dowling, Betty Berry Gowin, Gail Curts, Herbert and Bobbie Dowling, Kim and Emilia Vasquez and Cindy Crabtree, Nicky and Glenda Berry Youngblood.
Binghams have reunion
The descendants of Isom and Virginia (Jenny) Bingham met Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at the Maydelle First Baptist Church for a family reunion. The Binghams had eight children, one is still living. There are 37 grandchildren and 103 great-grandchildren. One hundred descendants attended the reunion. A pot luck lunch was served.
Dyess relatives hold family reunion
Descendants of the late Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Dyess met for their annual family reunion July 4, 2007 at the camp house of Forrest and Rita Dyess in Rusk. There were 51 family members and 11 visitors present. Prior to the meal family members said the pledge to the U.S. Flag. A meal of hamburgers, hot dogs, desserts, homemade ice cream and sno-cones was served. Activities included volleyball, basketball, fishing, picture taking and visiting.
Attending were Forrest and Rita Dyess, Kenny, Kim and Jordan Dyess, Jody, Bonnie, Anna and Hayden Dyess, Rodney, Cathy and Casey Newman, Amanda Dover, Randy, Terrie, Raysha and Nikita Sadler, Forrest and Garrett Jones, R.S. and Esther Dyess, Lesa and Brent Jones, John and Gloria Martin, all of Rusk; Stephanie, Candace and Clay Moore, Kash, Whitney and Austin Wayne Hines, all of Bullard; Paul and Mary Dyess and Sarah Martin of Flint; Brent, Crystal and Ryder Slaton of Allen; Joe, Martha, Emorie and Courtney Parsley of Troup; George and Louella, Kevin Simmons of Neches; and Jenny and Emilee Jackson, Ethel Lee Grimes; Billy Lynn and Mary Jane Dyess and Spooky and Debbie Dyess, all of Jacksonville.
Visitors were Brian, Karen and Angela Hagman of Washington; Josh Guidry of Canada; Chad Walker and Colton Hall and Dennis Jones, all of Rusk; Shane and Brandi Lackey and Jacob and Sarah Lackey of Jacksonville.
Hendrick family reunion is June 23, 2007
The annual Hendrick family reunion will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23,2007 at the Campground Baptist Church, four miles west of Alto on Highway 294. A covered dish luncheon will be held at noon.
The annual business meeting will follow. James Hendrick will be in charge of the business session.

John Robert James reunion held May 6, 2007
The descendants of John Robert and Maggie Sellers James met Sunday, May 6, 2007 at the home of Les and Joane Hunter in Brunswick Crossing near Alto.
Willie B. James, son of Walter and Carrie James, is the only surviving grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. James. Joane Hunter presided over the business meeting. Attendees told stories for the memory book and recipes for the cookbook.
Present from out of town were: Maxine James of Rusk; Frankie James Hunter of Lufkin; J.L. and Ouida James Pyle of Bellaire; G.T. and Sharon Jones of Richmond; Anthony and Debbie James Urbanek, Kerrie Urbanek and Amaya Urbanek of Hitchcock; Johnny James of Longview.
Those present from Alto were Chris, Natilee, Bridgett and Cade James; Terry and Floyce Lindsey Moore; William D. James; Tommy and Ginny Landrum Spurgers; Ted, Betty and Jared Moore and Les and Joane Clevenger Hunter.
Joneses meet for reunion
The 66th annual Jones Family Reunion was held Sunday, Sept. 2, at the Cherokee County Electric Coop Building. President Mike Jones of Plano presided. The approximately 85 attending came from San Francisco, Calif., Tucson, Ariz., San Antonio, Irving, Houston, Lufkin, Tyler, Rusk, Jacksonville, Dialville and Gallatin.
The family ancestor, Benjamin Franklin Jones and his father-inlaw H.T. Uzzle, both served in the Confederate States Army and both are buried at Rocky Springs Cemetery. Benjamin Franklin Jones has only eight surviving grandchildren. Three of them attended the reunion this year. They are R.R. Jones and wife Rose Mary Jones and Hazel Jones Wright, all of Gallatin and Betty Jo Bierer of Houston and two grand daughters-in-law, Laura Mae Jones and Doris Jones, both of Dialville. Also attending were great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great great grandchildren. Joe Jones of Tyler offered a prayer at noon. Paula Wohnoutka of Pasadena was elected president. The reunion will be held Aug. 31, 2008 at the same location.The Ault Family Singers entertained the group with some gospel music.
Landrum family
Oldest Landrum family members attending a reunion Oct. 13, 2007, include Letha Landrum-Collins, Donald Landrum, Veda Landrum-Thibodeaux, Delbert Landrum and Eva Landrum-Nance. Descendants of Bob and Roxie Landrum meet annually at Mission Tejas at Weches. Forty-seven came this year from Houston, Beaumont, Port Arthur and Austin.
Schochler family plans reunion for Oct. 6,
2007
The Schochler family will meet at 5 p.m. Oct. 6, 2007 at the Camp Ground Baptist Church for a reunion. Recent travel photos from the area in Europe from which the family immigrated to the U.S. will be shown.

Wilcox family gathers for 50th reunion (May 23, 2007)

The Wilcox family celebrated its 50th family reunion April 27-28 at the old Bulah schoolhouse. The event began Friday, April 27, with some of the family members gathering at the school to clean and set-up for the following day. After the work was finished the grills were fired up for a cook-out of hamburgers and hot dogs and then a campfire was lit for roasting marshmallows as everyone sat around taking turns telling old stories.
More than 200 attended the Saturday event. The tables were overflowing with food and desserts.
This annual reunion began 50 years ago, but to go back to the real beginning of this family one would have to travel back to the year 1907 when John William (Bill) Wilcox married (Emma) Elzira Hutchins. The two had 15 children, Odelle, Hulen, Amy, Preston, Hubert, Willie, Myrtie, Leslie, Grady, Lora, Lorene, Jane, Carl, Vernene and Delton. To date there are 44 first cousins and 108 second cousins. To keep track of who belongs to who, each family has a color that they wear to help with such growing numbers.
Those who worked on Friday were Kenneth, Myrna, Vernene, Bennie, Lora, Jill, Preston, Emadean, Charles, Leslie, Jackie, Donnie, Barbara, Marie and Dennis.
Family members, Jimmie, Howard and Lora mailed letters and made name tags; Jill and Lora sold tickets and worked on the family directory; Karon and Belinda worked on the candy guessing game; Kenneth and Glenn worked on games, with the help of Gale, Nicki, Trena and Ashley; Anita was in charge of the entertainment; Joyce and Myrna brought the guest book and the special table for the brothers and sisters; Marie was in charge of honoring the military and family pictures; Leslie brought the adobe wagon; Dayton and Vernene were emcees; Donnie was in charge of cleanup; Emadean, Beverly, Stella, Kay, and Sonya, the kitchen setup; and Dayton provided the banner.
One of the special highlights of the day was the presentation of the cup to Preston, who was 94 this year. This tradition began in 1987, when the first cup was presented.
Each of the brothers and sisters names are engraved on it, as well as their parents.
