I certify the following list of Fugitives from Justice is compiled from official record received from the several counties, and now on file in my office. WM. STEELE, Adjutant General

Cherokee County

Wood, Thompson...Murder; committed February 10, 1865; indicted March, 1865; about 5 feet 9 inches, weighs about 200 pounds, dark complexion, and about 55 years of age; said to live on Flat Lake, 9 miles from Minden, La.

Alexander, Wm....Murder; indicted March, 1866.

Hoffman, C.W....Assault to murder; committed July 10, 1866; indicted September, 1866.

Killough, Charles (negro) ...Assault to murder; indicted August, 1868; said to be at Marshall, Texas or Shreveport, La.

Land Wm...Theft of a horse; committed February 15, 1869; indicted February, 1869; is about 26 or 28 years old, 5 feet 10 inches high, sallow complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, and supposed to weigh 150 pounds.

Mallard, E.W....Theft of mule; indicted August, 1869; about 25 years of age, light complexion, light hair, blue eyes, and about 5 feet 8 inches high.

Whiteside, James...Assault to murder; indicted February, 1870.

Duncan, James...Murder; committed, December 10, 1868; indicted December 1870.

Weaver, George...Murder; committed May 10, 1873; indicted July 1873.

Broughton, Charles...Theft from a house; committed July 10, 1873; indicted November, 1873.

Agnew, Lewis H....Assault to murder; committed May 10, 1868; indicted July 1874; about 45 years old, fair complexion, light hair, blue eyes, stoop-shouldered, somewhat gray, about 5 feet 10 inches high and weighs about 175 pounds; in Mississippi.

Crunk, Wm....Assault to murder; committed March 10, 1874; indicted July, 1874; low stature, dark complexion, black hair and eyes, about 5 feet 8 inches high and weighs about 150 pounds.

Winters, John S.... Assault to murder; committed June 19, 1875, indicted July, 1875; about 6 feet high, weighs about 180 pounds, light complexion, light hair, blue eyes, and about 35 years old.

Wiley, Albert..... Assault to murder; committed June 19, 1875; indicted July 1875

Maroney, D.R.C.....Assault to commit rape; committed June 29, 1875; indicted July 1875.

Brittain, Wm. P...Assault to murder; committed January 24, 1876; indicted January, same year; about 24 years old, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark hair, yellowish blue eyes, rather fair complexion, slender built, weighs about 130 pounds, has a scar on one temple- probably the right and wears No. 4 or 5 boots.

Priestly, Wm.....Murder; committed March 1873; indicted July 1873; sallow complexion, dark hair; blue eyes, crippled in one hand, about 40 years old, 6 feet high, and weighs about 135 pounds; probably in Mississippi.

Clayton, Ed...Theft of hogs in March 1875; indicted July 1875; two cases.

Walker, Charles...Theft (Felony); committed January 1874; indicted July 1874; about 5 feet 8 inches high, weighs about 130 pounds, light complexion, light hair, blue eyes and about 24 years old.

Daniels, John... Assault to murder; committed December, 1869; indicted December 1870; dark hair, blue eyes, about 30 years old, and 5 feet 10 inches high.

Brownlee, Henry...Assault to murder; committed December, 1868; indicted July 1869; fair complexion, light hair and blue eyes; thought to be in the Indian Nation.

Slaughter, C.A... Swindling; committed April 5, 1871; indicted July, same year; about 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, black eyes, black whiskers, 45 years of age, weighs about 130 pounds.

Rountree, Ellen...Murder; committed October 1864; indicted March 1872.

Sexton, Samuel... Assault to murder; committed August 20, 1872; indicted, November, same year.

Martin, Smallard....Assault to murder; indicted July 1873; thought to be dead.

Atkins, Ira B....Swindling; committed May, 1872; indicted November, 1873; fair complexion, light hair, and blue eyes.

Dial, Wm....Seduction; committed June, 1872; indicted November 1873, florid complexion, red hair, about 5 feet 10 inches high, weighs about 150 pounds, and is about 38 years old.

Goodwin, Wm. T. ....Swindling; committed November 1873; indicted July 1874; two causes; fair complexion, light hair, blue eyes, about 5 feet 11 inches high and weighs about 150 pounds.

McCrimmon, Lot...Theft of hog; committed August 1874; indicted November, same year; freedman; about 32 years old, 6 feet high, and weighs about 140 pounds.

Walters, Henry...Assault to murder; committed July, 1875; indicted July, same year.

Wilkins, John D....Theft of hogs; committed, January, 1875; indicted July, same year; about 24 years old, 5 feet 10 inches high, light hair, blue eyes, round face, and weighs about 140 pounds.

Florence, Robert....Theft of mule; indicted October 1876; dark complexion, black hair and eyes, is about 26 years of age, and weighs about 150 to 160 pounds, rather heavy build, about 5 feet 10 inches high; doubtful.

Kendrick, Samuel... Assault to murder; committed 1876; indicted October 14, 1876; dark complexion, light hair, hazel eyes, and about 25 years of age, heavy set, weighs about 160 pounds, about 5 feet 10 inches high.

Thomas, Alfred...Two cases; theft of hogs and assault to murder; theft committed 1877; assault to murder committed February, 1877; indited March 1877; negro

Holloway, W.M....Theft of an estray horse; committed January 1877; indicted March 1877; about 5 feet 9 inches high, one leg a little shorter than the other, dark complexion, about 37 years of age, weighs about 140 pounds.
