Submitted by Lois CALLAWAY GERALD STEVENS CALLAWAY GERALD STEVENS, 86, passed away on February 20, 2001. He was born in Hughes Springs, Cass County, Texas, on October 4, 1914, to Joe Irvin Callaway and Clemmie Roberts Stevens Callaway who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. He owned and operated Sharon Hats, Incorporated, from 1945 until 1969, at which time he opened a showroom at the Dallas Apparel Mart where he represented a number of women's clothing manufacturers. After his retirement from the garment industry, he was employed by the Richardson Independent School District, working for six years at Lake Highlands High School. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bartow Davis Callaway; three children, Sharon and her husband, Larry R. Boyd, Kay and her husband, Dr. Edward P. Allen, and Gerald S. Callaway, II and his wife, Marcy, all of Dallas; his brother Raymond H. Callaway and wife, Lou Ellen, of Alexandria, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Mrs. G. W. Callaway; and seven nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren who have always loved him as their very special "Paw Paw". He was a 32nd degree Mason, a 57-year member of the Dallas Masonic Lodge #760 A.F. & A.M., and a member of Scottish Rite and Hella Shrine. A celebration of Gerald's life will be held at Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church, 400 W. Campbell Road, Richardson, Texas, on Friday, February 23, 2001, at 1:00 PM, with Dr. Don Lewis officiating. Memorials may be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas or Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church.
