a Pittsburg hospital.

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas-Della Doddy, 91, of Cason, Texas, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, 
in a Pittsburg, Texas, hospital.

Mrs. Doddy was born Sept. 3, 1913, in Morris County, Texas. She was a former employee of 
Hospital in the Pines and a member of Shady Grove Christian Church. She was preceded in 
death by her husband, Nathaniel Doddy; one stepson, Wesley Doddy; and one stepdaughter, 
Audrey Mae Doddy.

Survivors include three daughters, Willie Jane Stern and Helen Gordon of Los Angeles and 
Doretha Mizell of Boston; one son, James Melvin Doddy of Cason; three stepchildren, 
Earnestine Leftwich of Los Angeles, Calvin Doddy of Boston and Vernon Ray Doddy of Cason; 
25 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-
grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Shady Grove Christian Church, Cason, with the Rev. Charles 
"Pete" Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery under direction of Reeder-
Davis Funeral Home.
