Mari Ann Cook

HUGHES SPRINGS — Funeral services for Mari Ann Cook, 76, of Avinger, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Reeder-Davis Funeral Chapel in Hughes Springs, with the Rev. Dan Hoke officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Springs Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home Inc.

Ms. Cook was born May 10, 1935, in Avinger, to the parentage of Thomas Oscar and Eva Mae Cook. She passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011, at a Marshall hospital.

She worked for many years as a music teacher in New Mexico. She retired after working 20 years for the Department of Human Services in the East Texas area. Ms. Cook was a member of Avinger United Methodist Church and Sweet Adelines.

Ms. Cook is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Jim Smith of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Family visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 4, 2011, at the funeral home.
