Dawson, pastor of the First Baptist Church of the death in Louisville, Ky., Saturday morning of Mrs. L.L. Burkhalter, wife of Dr. L.L. Burkhalter, now pastor of the First Baptist church at Shepherdsville, Ky., formerly pastor of the First Baptist Church of West and associate pastor with Dr. Dawson at Waco. Dr. Dawson was asked to arrange funeral services for Mrs. Burkhalter here. Mrs. Burkhalter is survived by her husband, two sons, Harris and J.B. Burkhalter, both of whom have been students in Baylor university. Upon resigning his work with the First Baptist church here, Dr. Burkhalter entered the Baptist Theological seminary at Louisville. Funeral services will be held from the First Baptist church at 10 a.m. Monday, Dr. Dawson officiating. He will be assisted by Dr. J.B. Tidwell, of Baylor university, a Methodist minister who had not been named, and Judge W.H. Jenkins. The latter will make a short talk, at request of Mrs. Burkhalter, made before her death. Pallbearers will be: Frank Burkhalter, Dr. B.O. Herring, Dr. J.W. Downer, Dr. J.T. Harrington, John Fisher, E.R. Nash. Compton's will be in charge. WACO NEWS TRIBUNE, MONDAY, OCTOBER 20, 1930, WACO, MCLENNAN CO., TX Mrs. Burkhalter died Saturday morning in Louisville, Ky., where the family has lived since Dr. Burkhalter left West and Waco to attend the seminary and to do pastoral work at Shepherdsville, Ky. Mrs. Burkhalter is survived by her husband and two sons. She is also survived by her mother Mary Reese Harris; four sisters, Misses Annie, Ruth, Floride, and Calhoun Harris of El Paso; and by four brothers, J.P. Harris (Mineral Wells), M.P. Harris (San Antonio), E.B. Harris (Rule), and John A. Harris (Olney). Mrs. Burkhalter was a member of the Henry Bounds chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a direct descendant of Generals Pickens and Anderson, heroes of that war. She was also a member of the U.D.C., the Eastern Star and of the Woodmen Circle. NOTE: Mary was the daughter of Joseph Pickens Harris wo is buried in Linden Cemetery. Her husband, L. L. Burkhalter, was pastor of Queen City Baptist Church 1938-1950.
