Rescue Party Lowers Children in Sacks From 120 Foot Tower
Booker, Lipscomb Co., Texas, July 6. - Emulating the example of multitudinous kittens that have climbed higher and higher into the tops of sundry trees evidently unable to master the technique required for descent, two little children of Beaver, Ok., Sunday had to be rescued from a perilous perch atop a water tower here 120 feet in height.
Little Alice Marie Strong, 4, and Caroline Joy Strong, 3, were intent upon catching some pigeons when they made the ascent and when discovered, were high in the air at the pinnacle of the tower where they remained to to the apprehension of their relative and friends until a rescue party climbed the tower to give them aid.
The rescuers placed the children in gunny sacks and lowered them by means of ropes in safety to the ground.

I would like to call your attention to the fact that application for transfers must be in the office before August 1st. I would appreciate very much if all application for transfers could be filled within the next ten days. The name of the child must be on census roll before a transfer could be granted. If a child's name has been omitted from the census roll and the application for transfer is made early it will enable me to make a supplementary roll and enter the child's name. I will leave a supply of transfer blanks at the Atlanta National Bank, the First National Bank, Hughes Springs. Please call at the banks or the office for your blanks. I will be glade to mail you the number of blanks you will need if you are not to be in either of the above places.
