OBITUARY

Wallace Marie Hughes, 86, of Texarkana, Texas, died Friday, January 26, in a local 
retirement center.

Mrs. Hughes was born on August 24, 1909, in Winnsboro, TX. She was a homemaker and 
member of First Presbyterian Church, Pittsburg, Texas, and Eastern Star Chapter 381. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar T. Hughes, whom she married on March 
24, 1928 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. They were married 65 years and had no children. 

Survivors include three brothers, Jack Alvis of Mesquite, Texas, Don Alvis of Moriarty, 
N.M., and Jon Alvis of Burleson, Texas; two sisters, Maudie Fowler and Charlene Morrison 
of Texarkana; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 29 at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel 
with Rev. H.P. Hosey officiating. 

Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Pittsburg, Texas.
