Descendants of Freedom Colony Settlers

Caldwell Descendants of the Freedom Colony Settlers gather on the third Sunday in June to celebrate
Juneteenth, June 19, 1865,
when the end of slavery in Texas was officially anounced by Union forces that landed in Galveston.
It has been celebrated here at St. John Colony in the rural area of Caldwell for more than 150 years.
