I am trying to verify a link in my wife's SMITH ancestry. Henry SMITH
married a Margaret Jane WEST Jan. 4, 1851 in Brazoria Co., Tx. At the
exact time and place a Gaines Bailey SMITH married a Susan WEST. I am sure
the WEST girls are sisters but I cannott prove that Henry and Gaines were
brothers. Cornelius SMITH (An Old Three Hundred) did have two sons named
Henry and Gaines B., but there were several Henry SMITHs in Brazoria Co.
Henry and Margaret had a daughter, Susan Henrietta, who married a John
William MATTHEWS. Susan and John had a daughter who was born May 18, 1888
in Caldwell Co. She was named Maggie Derina, and was my wife's
grandmother.

KETCHUM, Peter R. Born approximately 1800 in Virginia, to Edward KETCHUM.
Died April 6 1868 in Caldwell, Texas. Peter R. KETCHUM had at least seven
children: Isabella, Chester VanBuren, Minerva, Peter R. Junior, Lovina,
Green Berry, and James. Need to know the name of his wife and mother of
these seven children. I am told there is a Peter R. Ketchum listed in
the 1850 Caldwell County census, but do not know if it is the Senior or
Junior KETCHUM. Have also heard that there is a marriage recorde for
Peter R. KETCHUM and Arabella WAGGONER dated August 2, 1852, but again I
need to confirm whether this is Junior or Senior. The children of Peter
R. KETCHUM married ROBBINS, EUSTACE, CHAMBERLAIN, VANPELT/SMITH,
WYDICK
AND RAY. Need to know the wife of senior Peter R. Ketchum and other
information as available. Thank you!

family (parents & siblings) to Texas. He and brother, Frederick H. enlisted in Co. T 4th Cav.
Tex. Conf. for the war at Caldwell, Texas. He owned a cotton gin in Red Rock which he sold to
Lockhart Oil Company for $3,000 in 1899. Jacob married (1) Susan A. STONE, granddaughter
of
Jacob & Susan SORRELL. she died in 1867. He then married Mary Ann MORAIN(E), my
