Beginning Genealogy - 2 hour session
presented by Bill Buckner, Manager of Periodicals/Genealogy Division at the Waco-McLennan County Library.  Mr. Buckner is a librarian with over fifteen years of professional experience.  Discover how to begin your quest for finding your roots, and learn where to find  records to fill in the blanks in your family history.   This session will put you on track to join the nation's most popular hobby, while reinforcing research skills that may have become rusty.

Cemetery Preservation and Cemetery Do's and Don'ts - 2 hour session
presented by Gerron Hite, Cemetery Preservation Coordinator for the Texas Historical Commission.  Mr. Hite is a registered architect who has worked for the Texas Historical Commission since 1983.  In 1997 he started the Historic Texas Cemetery Designation program and administers the RIP state-wide cemetery project.  In his presentation, Mr. Hite will discuss various cemetery preservation programs available at the Texas Historical Commission:  the Historic Texas Cemetery Designation, RIP Statewide Cemetery Survey Project, and the RIP Guardian Program.   In the second session, Mr. Hite will discuss basic cemetery preservation techniques and how to identify important features found in most cemeteries.

Little Known Sources for Genealogical Information - 2 hour session
by Elizabeth Hicks, author and past president of Clayton Library Friends.  In her presentation, Ms. Hicks will give you research tips and tell you how to find information in least 5 different resources you probably never thought about in your records search.  Hint:  NUCMC and Law Library for starters.

LDS Research Tools - 45 minute session
by Ken Fette, a Records Acquisitions Specialist with the Genealogical Society of Utah.  He will give you tips to find information provided by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) at their libraries as well as their wonderful on-line site.  He will also cover digital imaging and about converting microfilm to digital images.

Personal Ancestral File (PAF) - 2 hour session 
also by Ken Fette.  He will show how the program is set up on your computer and how to configure the program, and how to exchange information with other programs.  PAF is offered free as a download from the LDS site or for a small fee for a program disk. 

Clayton Library Research - 45 minute session
also by Elizabeth Hicks.  Learn how to get the most out of your visit to the premier genealogy library, The Clayton Library in Houston.  Ms. Hicks will tell you what is available there, the hours, how to find what you're looking for, and much, much more.
