Molly Goodwin

Molly R. Goodwin, born 10 March 1840, in Virginia, was married twice. Her first husband was Robert A. Lipscomb, born about 1838, in Virginia, a son of William T. Lipscomb. Molly and Robert had a son, Joseph G. Lipscomb, born 24 February 1860, in Burleson County, Texas, died 16 August 1898, and buried in the Brazos Bottom Cemetery, aka Old Tunis Cemetery, in Burleson County, Texas. The events of the Civil War are assumed to have caused Molly R. (Goodwin) Lipscomb to be single in 1866. Molly and William Herndon Jenkins were united in marriage on 10 May 1866, in Burleson County, Texas.

William was born 31 March 1838, at Winchester, Tennessee to John N. and Susan A. (Green) Jenkins. He served in Company K, 8th Texas Cavalry, C.S.A. during the Civil War. When the war was over, he reached his home in Burleson County, Texas on 5 July 1865, and soon purchased a 200 acre farm on the Brazos bottom on which he began farming. In 1882, William moved his family to Buck Street in Caldwell, Burleson County where he and his brother, Alphens G. Jenkins, engaged in the lumber business. Mr. And Mrs. W.H. Jenkins joined the Dove Baptist Church in Caldwell by letter on 25 November 1883, from the Baptist Church in Tunis that was disbanding. William was a Mason and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. Molly and William had eight children: Edward G., Susan A., Mary B., Jessie Belle, Winnie S. and three who died before reaching maturity. Their mature children were all educated in Baylor College. Mrs. Molly (Goodwin) Jenkins died 22 August 1901 and William H. Jenkins died 3 November 1922. Both are buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell, Burleson County, Texas.

Jesse T. Jenkins, a brother of William H. Jenkins was born 23 July 1840, died 4 August 1882, and is buried in the Brazos Bottom Cemetery in Burleson County, Texas.
