FRANK

John Frank was born 26 April 1826, in Germany. He came to America landing in Louisiana where he married Margaret Laodicea “Dicey” Hoosier. They moved to Burleson County, Texas, settling in what is now known as the Lone Oak Community. John owned and operated a grocery store in Lyons, Burleson County, Texas. They had sons:

1.     John Henry Frank, born 5 August 1872, in Burleson County, Texas.

2.     William S. Frank, born 25 January 1874, in Burleson County, Texas, died 31 August 1909, buried in the Lawrence Cemetery, Centerline Community, Burleson County, Texas.

John Frank died 21 July 1890, and was apparently the first of his family to be buried in the Lawrence Cemetery. Mrs. Laodicea Frank was born 6 July 1834, in Louisiana, died 28 September 1914, and was also buried in the Lawrence Cemetery.

John Henry Frank, son of John and Dicey Frank, farmed, raised cattle, and lived all of his life in the Lone Oak Community. He married Hattie Melissa Woodburn, born 27 December 1887, daughter of Samuel and Margaret Woodburn, in November 1901. John and Hattie were charter members of the Lone Oak Baptist Church that they helped build. They had ten children:

1.     Lizzie Frank, born in 1905

2.     Johnnie Frank, born 27 June 1907

3.     Maggie Frank, born 30 July 1909, in Burleson County, Texas. She married Glen Watson on 12 February 1930. They had one son Leonard Watson who died when he was nine years old. Glen died in 1994.

4.     Willie Frank, born about 1912

5.     Jimmie Frank, born 1915

6.     Ruby Frank, born 1917

7.     Madeline Frank, born 1919

8.     Herbert Frank, born 1922

9.     Lonnie Frank, born 1925

10.  Lillie Belle Frank, born 1926.

The children’s year of birth is based on the 1930 Census of Burleson County, Texas.

John Henry Frank died 21 January 1957, and Mrs. Hattie Frank died 22 March 1977. They are buried in Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville, Burleson County, Texas.
