Roberts Cemetery
aka Baugh

Roberts Cemetery, Brown County, Texas This Cemetery is located behind the large pecan orchard about seven miles north of Brownwood on FM 2125. Enter driveway from 2125 and keep right as you approach the house, pass the barns and workshops, and continue right along the earthen bank turn left at the end of the bank and follow the road through the trees you will see the cemetery on your right upon a small hill. When I first started visiting this cemetery it was in very bad shape The folks at the house were very helpful in directing me the right way. The list below is from the Brown County Court House Records. It was done in 1975 By Ethel Baugh Franke and Hazel Wetzel.

In the late 1990s Homer Purcell cleaned up the cemetery and reset the stones that had fallen down and has since tried to keep it mowed. We are working at this time (2002) to get enough money and labor together to rebuild the fence and perhaps make a marked entrance. It is in pretty rough shape but so much better than it was.

Located on Leanord's pecan farm seven miles north of Brownwood TX. On FM 2125. Tradition has it that eleven persons lying in this place were murdered or died a violent death. The oldest marked grave in Brown County is here Pency D. Baugh 1861. The cemetery is abandoned but fenced. Information in brackets gathered from family sources. Surveyed in April 1975 by Ethel Baugh Franke and Hazel Wetzel.

Some of the information above does not really jive with what is actually there. I will be working on correcting that - Suzanne Bailey Monroe 02/16/2018.

Updates I have found, there are no known graves earlier than 1864, but there are several of those.
