Mr. Homer Constable, of Seymour precinct, Baylor county, had a personal difficulty at Seymour with Friday Wilson, a stock man, a few days ago, and Wilson shot him in the arm, breaking it in two places. Some cow boys being in town they assisted Wilson to escape, defying the Sheriff.

Cow boys have taken charge of Seymour, in Baylor county, and the editor of the Cresset and the county attorney have been run out of the county. The assistance of the State has been asked.

County Judge of Baylor County Killed - Bad State of Society

GRAHAM, June 11. - E. R. Morris, county judge of Baylor county, was shot and instantly killed in the courthouse in Seymour, Baylor county, yesterday, by W. A. Taylor, a saloon-keeper in the town. Commissioners court was in session and judge Morris was presiding and engaged in discussing plans for a jail when the bloody deed was committed. Taylor came in to the court-house and passed into the clerks, office, where he remained a few minutes, and as he passed out of the house fired the fatal shot, without saying a word. He then mounted his horse and rode leisurely out of town. No attempt was made to capture him.
  The rangers left Seymour on the 8th, since which time the town has announced it's former condition - drunken men riding and firing pistols all over the town. The people are much divided, and will not as a body support any officer in the discharge of his duty. Hence it is that the rangers alone can maintain order.

Campbell of Teepee City, all members of the cattlemen's association, visited the HERALD office yesterday afternoon. The HERALD was glad to greet them and hopes they will have a pleasant times in our city.

Jan Byrd, arrested at Dallas for complicity in the burglary of Tally Bros.' store at Seymour, Baylor county, Inst month. Is a son of ex-Mayor A.J. Byrd, now deceased, of this city. Friends of the family here hope this young man may be able to prove his innocence.

A Sheriff Shot
Seymour, Baylor Co., Tex. May 28, - As Sheriff Cook of Motley county stepped off the train to-day he was shot through the arm, bowls and near the left nipple. He is dying. The shootist jumped on his horse, hitched near by, and fled to the brakes in the Wichita. Officers have telegraphed to the officers along the Denver to arrest him and several posses are in hot pursuit.

Deputy United States Marshall Hackney today captured a man at Colbert, I.T. (Indian Territory) after an eight mile chase, who is wanted in Seymour, Baylor county, for murder.

Met a Frightful Death
Seymour, Baylor County. Tex. June 12. --(Special)-- Mathews Ferrier, the 10 year old son of Dave Ferrier, was run over by a traction engine in Seymour this afternoon and instantly killed. One wheel of the engine passed over the entire length of his body, crushing it in a frightful manner.
