Chosen the outstanding students of the Malakoff High School during the 1946-47 term just ended, Miss Charlene Douglas, and Mr. Joe Barnett, Jr., were the recipients last week of certificates of membership in the Young Citizens Rotary Club. The presentation of the awards was made by Edwin Hart, Athens Rotarian, at the Commencement Exercises held in the grammar school auditorium on Tuesday evening last week.

Miss Douglas, president of the Junior Class, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Douglas, and Joe Barnett, who was one of the school's outstanding athletes during the past term, is the only son of Mr. And Mrs. Joe Barnett.

The selection of the outstanding students, based on meritorious conduct, was made by the high school faculty, using ten qualifying points as the basis for the selection of the outstanding boy and girl students from the high school student body. The points used were those of, cleanliness, thriftiness, courtesy, loyalty, honesty, service, dependability, sportsmanship, scholarship, and leadership.
